Blood Sugar & Hashimoto’s

Understanding the Impact of Blood Sugar on Thyroid Health

Understanding the link between blood sugar and thyroid health is key in holistic wellness. Research shows that when blood sugar levels are off, it can impact thyroid function. Whether it’s high or low, irregular blood sugar makes thyroid issues more likely.

Studies reveal how diabetes and thyroid disorders often go hand in hand. They’re both part of the endocrine system, and thyroid problems can affect how well you control blood sugar. The connection between them is clear, and it’s crucial to address both for overall health.

Thyroid issues and diabetes are common in clinical practice. They affect each other, with higher TSH levels increasing diabetes risk and higher free T4 levels lowering it. Low thyroid function also raises the risk of developing diabetes.

A significant portion of the population—35%, in fact—struggles with both thyroid issues and blood sugar regulation. To maintain a healthy thyroid, you need to keep your blood sugar stable. And to keep your blood sugar stable, you need a healthy thyroid.
