Top 10 Episodes – As Ranked by Listeners

Top Episodes #10

061 // Revealing the root causes of your own Hashimoto’s so that you can take effective action

Episodes 60 and 61 are among the most popular because they dive into identifying and addressing the root causes of Hashimoto’s. In these episodes, I guide you through the process of uncovering your own root causes, which is crucial for making effective progress in managing your health. Without understanding these underlying issues, you’ll struggle to know the right steps to take, often ending up relying solely on increasing medication doses as your thyroid function declines. Instead, by supporting your body and addressing the root causes, you can help stabilize your immune system and improve your overall health.

Top Episodes #9

027 // What is a Hashimoto’s flare and what can I do when I’m in one?

In this episode, I explain that a flare or flare-up is when your Hashimoto’s symptoms worsen, either temporarily or permanently. The key action step is to identify the root causes of the flare. When you’re experiencing a flare, evaluate what changes might have triggered it—such as stress, a seasonal shift, or dietary changes. By pinpointing and addressing these triggers, you can take effective action to manage your condition.

Top Episodes #8

044 // Navigating the Diet Maze: What to Eat with Hashimoto’s

In this episode, I help you navigate the confusing world of diets to determine which one is right for you. With so many different diets being recommended for autoimmune conditions, it can be overwhelming to know what will actually work for you. I emphasize your uniqueness and bio-individuality—there’s no one else with your exact circumstances or environment. Episode 44 guides you through evaluating and implementing a diet tailored to your specific needs and circumstances, and then assessing its effectiveness for you.

Top Episodes #7

021 // Metabolism, thyroid, & Hashimoto’s: How can I lose weight if I have Hashimoto’s?

Top episode number seven is episode 21, which focuses on metabolism and weight management, two major concerns for those with Hashimoto’s and hypothyroidism. In this episode, I discuss natural ways to boost your metabolism and strategies for weight loss.

A key part of this is the “metabolism essentials stack,” featuring 3 products including Protandim NRF2, which uses five natural herbs to help your body reduce oxidative stress by up to 40% in just 30 days. This helps your immune system function properly by producing essential antioxidants. Additionally, Protandim NRF1 is highlighted for its role in energizing your cells by activating mitochondria. This comprehensive approach aims to improve your overall health by addressing metabolic challenges at the cellular level.

Top Episodes #6

005 // Medications for hypothyroid and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis – Levothyroxine, Synthroid, Armour

This episode is popular because when you’re diagnosed with hypothyroidism or Hashimoto’s, medications are typically the first treatment option offered by doctors. In this episode, I explain the differences between T4 and T3 medications and emphasize that it’s okay to take these medications if your thyroid isn’t producing enough hormone. Just like a diabetic needs insulin, you may need thyroid hormone replacements, and there’s no shame in that. The goal is for your body to eventually produce and convert these hormones naturally, but until then, taking medication is a vital and acceptable part of managing your condition.

Top Episodes #5

001 // I don’t want Hashimoto’s, my journey from fear of thyroid problems to hope

The fifth most popular episode is episode one, where I share my personal journey to diagnosis. I discuss the struggles and resistance I felt toward receiving a thyroid and autoimmune diagnosis. The action step from this episode, which I didn’t know at the time, is to join the app community I’ve created. After listening to my story, I encourage you to come to the app, introduce yourself, and share your own story if you feel comfortable. Our community is still small, but it’s a space for us to support each other through our unique journeys.

Top Episodes #4

011 // 4 Foods to Avoid When You Have Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis or Other Autoimmune Disease

In this episode, I discuss the importance of identifying and eliminating foods that can contribute to inflammation and disease. The four foods to avoid are gluten, dairy, soy, and sugar. I explain why each of these might be problematic and provide guidance on how to determine if removing them from your diet could benefit you. The goal is to help your body function optimally by finding what dietary choices work best for your unique needs.

Top Episodes #3

004 // Are there natural remedies for Hashimoto’s disease? What vitamins can I take for hypothyroid?

The third most popular episode of all time is episode 4, which focuses on natural remedies for Hashimoto’s. Given the increasing interest in natural health solutions, especially post-COVID, it’s no surprise that this episode ranks high. Many people are looking for ways to support their bodies naturally, avoiding pharmaceuticals when possible.

In this episode, I emphasize the importance of addressing the root causes of autoimmune issues rather than just treating the symptoms. For example, if you see rubber duckies floating downstream, you can clean them up, but unless you find and stop the source upstream, they’ll keep coming. Similarly, with health, we need to find and address what’s causing your immune system to malfunction.

Natural remedies discussed include:

  • Vitamin D: Vital for immune function and has a direct correlation with antibody levels. It’s technically a hormone, not just a vitamin, and is crucial for overall health. I recommend supplementation, especially in winter or if you’re not getting enough sun exposure.
  • Selenium: Important for thyroid function, and often included in multi-nutrient supplements.
  • Multi-nutrient supplements: These should provide vitamins, minerals, and adaptogens to help your body cope with stress. (This is what I take every day.)

In the episode, I also discuss the Protandim NRF2 and NRF1 activators, which help activate protective genes and enhance cellular energy by improving mitochondrial function. These aspects are further explored in the Holistic Hashimoto’s Course, where I delve into nutrigenomics—using nutrition to influence genetic expression, turning beneficial genes on and off to support health.

Top Episodes #2

003 // What do my thyroid labs mean? TSH, thyroid antibodies, T4, Reverse T3, and more

The second most popular episode of my podcast, “Health with Hashimoto’s,” is episode number three, which focuses entirely on thyroid labs. This episode has resonated deeply with listeners, prompting me to expand on related topics such as different types of T4 and T3 in subsequent episodes. In episode three, I cover everything you need to know about thyroid lab tests, emphasizing their crucial role in managing conditions like Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. Additionally, I discuss practical solutions for obtaining necessary lab tests, including how to navigate challenges with doctors and insurance companies.

Top Episodes #1

002 // Just diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis? Three things to do today.

The most popular episode of my podcast, “Health with Hashimoto’s,” is episode number two, titled “Were You Just Diagnosed? Here Are Three Things to Do Today.” In this episode, I provide straightforward guidance for anyone newly diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. The three essential actions I emphasize are to first acknowledge and feel your emotions without judgment, whether it’s relief, overwhelm, or confusion. Second, I encourage listeners to practice deep breathing to help navigate these emotions calmly. Lastly, I emphasize the importance of self-compassion, reassuring listeners that their diagnosis is not their fault and that they deserve kindness and understanding throughout their health journey. This episode aims to empower listeners with practical steps and emotional support during a challenging time of diagnosis.
